By registering for our classes or using our services, you accept these terms and conditions in their entirety. We reserve the right to modify them at any time with 30 days' notice; changes take effect on the date indicated and apply to future registrations.
Our teaching philosophy is built on matching your current skills with the content offered. This approach ensures optimal progression for each participant, appropriately calibrated challenges without frustration, and a stimulating learning environment.
Level categories exist solely to optimize your learning experience. If you are unsure about your level, our teaching team is available at info@abracomtl.ca to guide you toward the most suitable program. For yoga classes, levels correspond to physical intensity and posture complexity.
To ensure a harmonious experience in our dance activities, we aim to maintain a balance between those who lead and those who follow.
Note: this policy does not apply to yoga classes, where no specific role is required.
In accordance with Quebec law and for everyone's safety, the following are strictly prohibited: no consumption of alcohol or other substances on our sites (except by special authorization at designated events); any illegal substance results in immediate and permanent exclusion; and the sale of any substance is strictly prohibited.
Important legal reminders: being in a vehicle with alcohol and accessible keys is an offence; driving under the influence (including legal cannabis) remains illegal; and public spaces generally prohibit such consumption. We reserve the right to exclude anyone whose condition would compromise the safety or proper conduct of activities.
Our partners entrust their premises to us — let's protect these privileges together. Required equipment: indoor-only shoes for dance floors; a personal mat for yoga classes. Food & drink: reusable containers and outside food or drink are generally permitted, unless otherwise indicated for certain special events. Upkeep: any dishes used must be washed and put away; dispose of waste appropriately; and fully restore your space. Failure to follow these guidelines may justify exclusion from our activities.
Any commercial activity in our spaces requires prior authorization. Contact us at info@abracomtl.ca before any sales project. Sellers are responsible for regulatory compliance, running their booth, and similar obligations. Exception: instructors may offer their teaching materials at the end of a session with our agreement. This policy applies to all our events.
Respectful environment: we cultivate a caring space where everyone feels safe. Disrespectful, aggressive, or disruptive behaviour will result in exclusion without refund. For more details, see our Code of Conduct.
Arrival and punctuality: arrive 10–15 minutes before the start to prepare properly. For yoga classes in particular, access may be refused after the session begins in order to preserve the meditative atmosphere.
Dress code: wear clean clothing suited to the activity. See our FAQ for suggestions specific to each type of class.
Hygiene: maintain appropriate personal hygiene and avoid strong fragrances that may bother other participants. A change of clothes is recommended.
Electronic devices: silent mode is mandatory. No use during classes except in an emergency.
Full refunds are granted only if the request is made before a class has taken place.
All requests must be sent by email to info@abracomtl.ca at least 24 hours before the activity concerned. Late requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Group classes / workshops: refund (or credit) prorated for classes not attended, minus a 10% administrative fee. Special events with guest artists: no refund; transfers accepted ($15); postponement to the following year, where applicable.
Processing time is 7–10 business days, returned via the original payment method.
When Abraço Dance Montreal must cancel an activity (insufficient participants, instructor unavailability, a technical issue, etc.), participants may choose between a full refund, a credit of equal value usable toward any other activity, or a postponement to a later date, where applicable.
Operational adjustments: Abraço Dance Montreal maintains the flexibility needed to adjust its operations, including schedule changes, instructor substitutions, or activity cancellations. We will communicate any change as soon as possible.
Minimum participation: a minimum of 5 registrations is required to run a class. Below this threshold, we reserve the right to cancel or postpone the activity; affected participants will receive either a full refund or a credit applicable to other activities.
Exceptional circumstances: in the event of situations beyond our control (health emergencies, extreme weather, government directives, etc.), Abraço Dance Montreal may temporarily suspend its activities or adapt its service offering without penalty. Alternatives or compensation will be proposed depending on the nature of the situation.
Abraço Dance Montreal cannot be held responsible for items lost, stolen, or damaged on its premises. Lost items left on our premises are kept for 30 days before being donated to charity. If a different studio was rented for a special event, items will be left at the reception desk.
All material taught (choreography, yoga sequences, teaching methods) remains the property of Abraço Dance Montreal and its instructors. Any reproduction or commercial use requires written authorization.
Recording during classes: photography and video recording are prohibited during classes, except with the instructor's explicit permission. Exception: participants may film the final recap for personal use only.
Promotional use: Abraço Dance Montreal may occasionally photograph or film its activities for promotional purposes. Your participation implies your consent to appear in this material. If you prefer not to be photographed, please let us know in writing or verbally before the class. On request, we will remove any photo in which you are clearly identifiable from our digital platforms within 48 hours.
Abraço Dance Montreal limits data collection to what is strictly necessary: contact details, payment information, and health information relevant to your safe practice. Your information is used solely for administering your activities, billing, and essential communications, with no sale or sharing with commercial third parties. We keep your data in accordance with applicable legal and tax requirements (generally 7 years for accounting records). You have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal information on simple request to info@abracomtl.ca.
All official communications are sent by email. Please add info@abracomtl.ca to your address book to avoid spam filters. Schedule changes, emergency cancellations, and critical information are sent by email, with additional posting on our website and social media. Our promotional newsletters always include an unsubscribe option; essential administrative communications (receipts, confirmations, cancellations) remain mandatory for all active participants.
Grounds for sanctions include: violating the code of conduct or established rules; behaviour that endangers others' physical safety or emotional wellbeing; non-payment or fraudulent use of services; repeated disruption of activities; and disrespect toward staff, instructors, or participants.
The process escalates: (1) a verbal reminder — a constructive discussion to correct the situation; (2) a formal warning — written communication documenting the problem; (3) a temporary suspension — denial of access for a set period; and (4) permanent exclusion — a permanent ban from all our activities. Serious offences (violence, harassment, endangerment) may justify immediate exclusion without prior steps.
Financial terms: any exclusion for violating the rules results in forfeiture of amounts paid; no refund or credit will be granted in these circumstances.
Right of appeal: participants may submit a written request for review within 7 days of the sanction.

Risks include, among others: falls, collisions with other participants, movement-related injuries, dehydration, and dizziness. For yoga specifically: risks related to postures, deep stretches, and breathing exercises. For dance specifically: risks related to lifts, rapid turns, and physical contact with partners.
Each participant declares that they are in adequate physical condition to take part in the chosen activities; that they have no medical condition preventing safe practice; that they will immediately inform the instructor of any discomfort or physical limitation; and that they understand their right to stop or modify their participation at any time.
The participant agrees to be responsible for their own limits and to respect their body's signals; to follow the safety instructions given by instructors; to adapt their practice to their personal abilities; and to consult a health professional if in doubt about their ability to participate.
In consideration of their participation, the participant waives any claim against Abraço Dance Montreal, its owners, instructors, employees, volunteers, and representatives (collectively the "Released Parties") for any bodily or material harm, any loss resulting from their participation, and any incident occurring on the premises or during transport to or from activities. This waiver applies within the limits permitted by the Civil Code of Québec and applicable laws.
The participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties against any claim, demand, or action arising from their participation.
The participant authorizes Abraço and its staff to obtain emergency medical care on their behalf if deemed necessary. Any medical costs incurred remain the participant's responsibility.
This agreement is governed by the laws of the province of Québec. If any clause is found invalid, the remaining clauses stay in effect. This release binds the participant's heirs, successors, and assigns.
By participating in Abraço Dance Montreal's activities, the participant confirms that they have read and understood all of Abraço Dance Montreal's terms and conditions; that they accept this release voluntarily and knowingly; that they have had the opportunity to ask questions or consult legal counsel; and that they understand this document constitutes a legal waiver of certain rights.
